Registrations are open for the 2023 edition, scheduled from 24 to 26 March. Confirmed all 5 distances including the Chianti Castle, 100 km and 4000 m in altitude, a challenge and a journey to discover the ancient fortifications of Chianti Storico.

Radda in Chianti, 15 September 2022 The Chianti Ultra Trail is back, an eagerly awaited appointment by runners from all over the world who, from 24 to 26 March 2023, will compete among the dirt roads, olive trees and vineyards of one of the most fascinating and well-known territories of Italy. Registrations are already open for the four distances confirmed also in the next edition, all starting from Radda in Chianti: 100, 73, 42 and 20km and the non-competitive 15km Walk and Run for those who want to discover the area by walking or running.

After the success of the first edition staged last year, the Chianti Castles confirmed, the long distance from 100 km to 4000 m in altitude, the hardest but the most seductive, not only for the technicality of the route but for the extraordinary beauty of the scenarios. The race encompasses the whole history of Chianti, the one told by the ancient castles of the League, built to defend the territory and protagonists of the warlike conflicts between Siena and Florence for the contest of this priceless territory. Not a challenge like the others, therefore, but a real journey into the past, among ancient paths along those white roads, flanked by vineyards that today represent a still authentic Tuscany, the one between the Municipalities of Radda, Gaiole and Castellina, the territory of Chianti Classico. Along the race course, the athletes will encounter places with historical charm such as Dievole, San Polo, Villa Vistarenni, the Castle of Albola, San Michele, Volpaia, and again the castles of Ama, Lecchi, Tornano, Cacchiano, Castello di Brolio and the Fortress of Montegrossi.

The other four routes, from 73 km (2800m D +), 42 km (1400m D +), 20 km (800m D +) and 15 km (600m D +), wind through the expanses of vineyards and the wood of Monte San Michele, the highest point of the route, through the historic villages, on unpaved paths, some private, thus offering participants the opportunity to enjoy exclusive views of the hills as far as the eye can see.

Also in this edition the Chianti Walk & Taste, the 8km guided eno-gastronomic walk between Church and Castles, which includes 3 stops with tasting of typical products and wines of the area directly in the cellars.

And also Ultra Wine, the calendar of appointments in collaboration with Casa Chianti Classico which includes visits with tastings to historic cellars, sensory and museum tours, introductions to the art of the sommelier, outdoor buffet dinners, all by reservation.

As every year, the Chianti Ultra Trail will award points for the 2023 edition of the UTMB. The points will be awarded to the finishers of the 20 (1 point), of the 42 kilometers (2 points) and those of the 73 kilometers (3 points), 100 km 4 points.
