In his debut in Madeira, the North American athlete, representing ASICS, completed the main MIUT race at 13:52:46 hours
Ben Dhiman won the 115 km Madeira Island Ultra-Trail race. The North American did not give any chance after Pico Ruivo, especially after the withdrawal of Portuguese Miguel Arsénio, which happened at Chão da Lagoa, due to physical problems.
During the early hours of the morning, the North American and Portuguese Miguel Arsénio had fought an interesting fight for 1st place, but with the withdrawal of the Portuguese athlete, Ben Dhiman ended up being 'alone' on his way to victory in this 15th edition of MIUT .
The North American completed the 115 km of the MIUT main race in 13:52:46 hours, still far from the record achieved by compatriot Jim Walmsley in 2022, with 12:58:14.
In 2nd place among the men in the 115 km race was the Norwegian with Sebastian Krogvig's time of 14:12:54 hours. Completing the podium was Frenchman Martin Kern, who finished the 115 km race in 14:15:23.
The best Portuguese was Nélson Santos, an athlete from Runners do Demo, who completed the 115 km MIUT race with a time of 14:51:20 hours, thus reaching 5th place.
The winner, Bem Dhiman, was “satisfied” with the result, but guaranteed that “it wasn’t easy” despite the big difference compared to 2nd place. He praised MIUT and raised the possibility of “returning” to Madeira next year.
The best Portuguese, Nélson Santos, was “amazed by everything he saw in Madeira”, highlighting “the excellent organization of the race”. “It was truly an incredible experience”, said the Portuguese athlete.
Martina Valmassoi wins the women's 115 km MIUT!
It is the first time that an athlete from Italy has won the main event of the Madeira Island Ultra-Trail.
There is already a winner in the 115 km women's race of the Madeira Island Ultra-Trail. It's Italian Martina Valmassoi, who dominated much of the race, first crossing the finish line in Machico.
She completed the 115 km in 16:14:10 hours, becoming the first Italian athlete to win the main MIUT race, with the longest distance.
It started at midnight in Porto Moniz and reached the finish line in Machico to a huge applause of recognition for the victory and all the effort after a test of maximum demand on the Madeiran trails.
French Anne-Lise Rousset was second with a time of 16:28:27.
“It was wonderful to return to Madeira, I loved everything, I confess that it was a very exhausting race, it is quite demanding, but of course I want to come back here, this is a unique experience, along the trails we can see beautiful landscapes”, said the winner of the proof, the Italian Martina Valmassoi.

Swiss Ramon Manetsch breaks record in the MIUT 85 km race!
Swiss victories in the 85 km MIUT race. Ramon Manetsch dominated the race practically from start to finish and even broke the record (8:46.35), which had belonged to Englishman Thomas Evans since 2022. Manetsch completed the course in 8:44:28 hours, with an 18:29 minute advantage over 2nd place, the North American Caleb Olson.
The 85 km race started at 7 am this Saturday, in São Vicente, also ending in Machico.
Among the female athletes, the victory went to the Swiss Ariane Wilhem, who completed the 85 km in 10:35:42 hours, followed by the Spanish Sílvia Puigarnau, who completed the route in 11:00:04 hours.
