Top-class trail running at the first Hochkönig Ultraks in Maria Alm, Dienten, Hinterthal and Mühlbach. Nine challenging race routes set against a spectacular mountain backdrop attracted trail runners from 47 countries.

Exceptional trail running around the Hochkönig massif and an impressive trail running festival in the mountains of Salzburg marked the successful debut of the Hochkönig Ultraks. A total of 2,200 participants crossed the start line across nine different races over two days at the inaugural event.

Friday featured an atmospheric opening programme with the Raiffeisen Team Trail, the Mini Ultraks children's races, and the Vertical race. Starting in Dienten, the Vertical course covered 5.9 kilometres and 1,080 metres of ascent, finishing on the Lauskopf summit. Germany's Evi Gudelius claimed victory in the women's race in 57:53, while fellow German Alexander Brandner won the men's event in 46:38.

Saturday delivered the sporting highlights of the weekend. The flagship HK70 race took athletes on a demanding 71.5-kilometre course featuring 4,150 metres of elevation gain around the Hochkönig massif. Italy's Stefan Ungericht secured overall victory in an impressive time of 7:29:47. In the women's competition, Germany's Sophia Reuß took the win in 9:27:39.

The HK30 EXTREME, widely regarded as the most technically demanding course of the event, covered 34 kilometres with 2,680 metres of climbing and produced another high-calibre contest. Germany's Johannes Wingenfeld won the men's race in 3:49:42, while Austria's Anna Andres triumphed in the women's category with a time of 5:12:27.

Alongside the HK70 and HK30 EXTREME, Saturday's programme also included the HK48, HK30 PANORAMA, HK20 and HK SPRINT races. From newcomers to experienced trail runners, the Hochkönig Ultraks offered a suitable challenge for every level of athlete.
