Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe will oversee promotion and distribution for the Golden Trail World Series circuit as part of a multi-year partnership.
Annecy, FRANCE – April 16th, 2025 - Salomon has partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) Sports Europe to broadcast and support the Golden Trail World Series (GTWS) circuit, the leading short distance trail running circuit, to a growing audience of sports fans globally. Through this extended partnership, WBD Sports Europe will oversee the production, distribution and localization of multi-market broadcasting of GTWS races, the ongoing promotion of the circuit on digital media platforms, as well as marketing the series internationally to attract future partners and sponsors.
“Salomon is one of the most successful, most-recognizable and growing sports brands,” shares Patrick Maitrot, Head of International Sales & Partnership at WBD Sports Europe. “We are excited to launch our new 360-degree collaboration and look forward to working with an innovative partner in Salomon to expand trail running into new markets. We believe in the growth potential of the product alongside the sporting format for the Golden Trail World Series, which is recognized as the flagship event on the global trail running calendar. We are confident that our combined sports and storytelling expertise coupled with WBD’s production capabilities, unmatched global scale and proven track record of elevating sports, will support the continued growth of trail running through greater international exposure than ever before.”
Live coverage of the series will reach the widest possible audience across WBD’s premium linear channels including Eurosport (Europe) and TNT Sports (UK & Ireland) as well as live and on-demand streaming via its streaming platforms Max and discovery+, complemented by an extensive network of broadcast partners, including free-to-air channels and OTT platforms. In addition, free video content, news and storytelling will be accessible through its far-reaching social media and digital news platforms such as Eurosport.com and TNTSports.co.uk.
“Since the early 2000s, Salomon’s running products and international athletes have contributed to the international growth of trail running – now a world-renowned sport and drawing thousands of runners to each race. Salomon brought the GTWS to live television for the first time ever in 2023 with Eurosport, which was a milestone for the sport,” shares Scott Mellin, Salomon Global Chief Brand Officer. “The GTWS is a highly entertaining, TV-ready format with races lasting around 2 hours, featuring steep climbs and technical descents as well as a “flower” format that allows spectators to see more of the race and better engage with the athletes. We have found the perfect partner in WBD, one of the largest and long-lasting sport broadcasters in the world, and we are confident that together we can shape the future of this sport worldwide.”
For the 2025 season, the GTWS features eight spectacular trail races:
The 2025 GTWS Grand Finale will take place around Lake di Garda, in the heart of the Trentino region in Italy from October 9th to October 12th.
NEW VISUAL IDENTITY AND CSR PROGRAM
Following the work done over the past 5 years, the GTWS unveils a new CSR program which includes a new open-source “My Event Impact” tool developed in partnership with Protect Our Winters, AirCoop and key races to assess the impact of events before their selection and track their progress once part of the circuit. This CSR program, which will be fully unveiled at this year’s Grand Finale, also relies on advocating for more responsible sport and championing diversity and inclusion.
To support the growth and evolution of GTWS, Salomon has worked with Project Standard to create a new visual identity for all elements of the series. It uses a modified Salomon font, creating a bold, impactful visual with high contrast, inspired by the high intensity GTWS races.
*Max is available across France, Greece, the Nordics, Iberia, Central and Eastern Europe, and USA (US coverage varies); HBO Max is WBD’s streaming platform in Belgium and the Netherlands; discovery+ is the streaming platform for Germany, Austria, Italy and the United Kingdom ahead of Max launching in 2026.
